‘New Dawn’ and ‘Peace at Dusk’
These two paintings were inspired by the Woodland I work in as a Forest School teacher here in Devon, and each scene is set at different times of the day and year. This first piece is set in Spring at dawn and the second in Autumn at dusk. Both were commissioned by local families whose children have attended the woodland sessions. Both are a celebration of children’s awe and wonder in the diverse beauty of the natural world around them. Both speak to me of hope for the future. Both reminder me that we are the apex species on the planet and as such we are the custodians of this world. It is our responsibility to do everything within our own individual and collective power to help it survive and thrive.
