Perthro – The Cosmic Cauldron

Dice cup, well, cauldron womb and hag stone. Chaos, unknown, unexpected

This piece was inspired by several walks taken over the luna month when I was focusing on the energy of the Perthro rune and a photo taken by Duncan while on a walk where he spotted some mushrooms in a tree hollow, creating the impression of worlds within worlds, which I instantly recognised as Perthro energy in nature

On one walk I went down the river Dart between New Bridge and Dartmeet, with another magical friend, where portals and moments of Perthro cauldron energy presented themselves in so many ways. From secret moss covered tree hollows nurturing miniature worlds of life, to black rock pools reflecting the spiderweb of tree canopies and hinting at the endless depths, tempting us to dive into them to follow the eddies to new worlds.

I spent much of the month gazing through hagstones and twisted branches of trees, focusing on small minute details while on the outer perimeter of my vision all became swirling and fuzzy, like looking into the eye of a hurricane, both clarity to chaos is Perthro to me. It is the cosmic cauldron and when you dive in potential, creation and transformation are all around and within you. Once we have surrendered to the cauldron we can then pass through to the other side, to a sacred space, to Algiz… and so the journey continues.
